Safe Schools

Ok2Say

OK2SAY is the student safety program that allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.

Student Bullying Policy

The Board recognizes that bullying and cyberbullying significantly interfere with the learning process.  Through this Policy, the Board prohibits bullying "at school," as well as off-campus conduct that is likely lead to a material or substantial disruption of the school learning environment for one or more students.

This Policy is intended to protect all students from bullying, including cyberbullying, regardless of the subject matter or motivation for the behavior.  The Board, through this Policy, also prohibits retaliation or false accusations against a target of bullying, as well as a witness or another person with reliable information about an act of bullying.  The identity of an individual who reports an act of bullying shall remain confidential.  The Superintendent will promulgate administrative regulations to implement this policy.

Policy 2006

In partnership with the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department and the City of Zeeland Police Department, the primary focus of our School Resource Officers is the safety and security of the school campus. Well-publicized national events have demonstrated the need for the development of safety strategies and event crisis management to ensure the well-being of students and staff members. School Resource Officers remain highly visible and assist in proactive problem-solving to prevent or limit significant events from occurring on school grounds while also developing positive relationships with ZPS students, staff, and families.
