Next Week sports practices begin on Monday 10/21/19 for:

(Before you participate in any practices you must have a physical turned in and on file in the office. Also everything needs to be filled out on Final Forms. Questions see Mrs. Cook in the front office.)

**Girls 7/8 Swim -

Creekside students will be shuttled on Bus #39 to Cityside after school.

First week of Girls Swim Schedule 10/21-10/25

M, T, Practice @ Cityside 3-4:45pm (pickup at 5:00)

W, Th, F : Practice @ West H.S. 3-5pm

Thursday : Parent meeting @ 5:00pm in Cityside Cafe

Boys Basketball 7/8 -

--7th gr. boys basketball at 2:55pm - 4:30pm tryouts in the Large Gym on Monday and Tuesday. You are expected to attend both practices.

 --8th gr. boys basketball tryouts ** from 6-7:30pm on Monday and 6-8pm on Tuesday. (**These are updated times for tryouts) For those that make the team they will have practice on Wednesday from 6-8pm.  Starting on Thursday we will return to normal after school time (2:45-4:30pm).

 

** Crab Soccer - 6th grade - Games will begin promptly at 11:20am

(Game days are subject to change.  Please listen to the announcements for any changes or corrections in the schedule.)

**"If you wish to have picture retakes, please bring the picture packet you would like to return with you to have your retakes done.  Students will be called down to the computer lab by grade beginning at 8:00 AM on Tuesday - 10/29.  It is YOUR responsibility to have your picture retakes done." 

 

**The best way to build awareness surrounding mental health and illnesses is through education! The more we know, the less stigmatizing we are when it comes to talking about and acting on mental health situations.

If you are interested in being on the be Nice Leadership team see Mrs. Hulka for an application. All applications are due by Friday October 18.

 

**Box Tops have changed, but the 6th grade class is still collecting!  You can still bring your clipped box tops in to any 6th grade teacher before October 25 so we can redeem them.  You can also download the Box Tops for Education app to your smartphone and select "Creekside Middle School" as your school to receive credit for the updated Box Tops.  You will then need to scan receipts so the 6th grade class can get credit!  There are often additional offers available on the app to increase earnings.  Thanks for your support!

            

**8th grade students interested in attending the Washington DC trip should plan to attend the parent informational meeting in the Creekside Cafeteria on Monday, Oct. 21 @ 7:30pm. Sign ups will be held at the meeting and deposits for the trip will be collected.  If you did not receive a flyer about this meeting or about the trip, please see Mr. Lane or Mrs. Remy.

             

** Students please check your email throughout the day for messages from the office. If your parent drops something off or leaves a message with the office this is how it will be communicated to you.  

 

**Lost & Found Items are located in the Quack Shack under the cupboards in a blue bin. If you have lost anything since school started please make sure to check in with us in the front office so we can help you check it out.  

 

**Reminder for Lunch Room Procedures:  

- Priority is to get food, sit, and eat.

- Then you can choose to walk around the loop in the building, go to the gym for the designated activities, and/or stay sitting down to socialize.

-Students, please remember that the commons/open area/hallways are not to be used as an alternative to locker storage anytime, or during lunch time. Please bring your items to your lunch tables with you, or store the items in your locker. Everyone has a locker and is expected to use it.  

-Attention all students during lunch it is very important that you take your lunch boxes/bags with you after you are done eating at noon. Please check the back counters in the lunch room for yours if you forget it.   We will only keep them for a short period of time before they are dumped.

Sports Results:

**The 8th-grade girls volleyball Dux were victorious last night against Pinewood with scores of 25-15, 25-20 and 15-13! A special shoutout for all players of the 8th grade volleyball team as it was their last volleyball game at Creekside. Congratulations! Way to go on great season, ladies!

** The 7th grade girls volleyball team defeated Pinewood last night 25-6, 25-15 and 8-15.  Solid serves clinched the win for the Dux. Madison Wyckoff, Madison Hildebrand, Madelyn Veersma, Sadie Wiersma, Emily Kragt and Neveah Bakker were our ace servers while Neveah Bakker had 3 spikes at the net!  The lady Dux finished their season strong ending 9-1. Great season of team effort by all 15 of the Lady Dux! Congratulations Ladies!!!!

**Non-School Lunch Items: Outside food is only allowed in the lunchroom if you are bringing lunch for your student ONLY.

The office conference rooms are no longer available for groups lunches with friends.
 

**Take note....Creekside opens it's doors to students at 7:05a.m.. After school, students not with a teacher or coach, need to exit the building by 3:00p.m..

**After School Homework Time will be after school Monday thru Thursday from 2:30 - 3:30. National Honor Society High Students are available to offer additional help for our middle school students. 

 

**Want to keep your house clear of clutter and plastic recycled?

Send any used or unwanted ink or toner cartridges to Creekside to Mrs. Walcott's room.  Staples gives $2 back in rewards for each cartridge brought in for recycling.  Yes, there is a limit and minimum purchase required.

**Paper Gator Recycling:

What?  Please bring in your newspapers, catalogs/magazines/junk mail/phone books/office-school paper.  We cannot take plastic, metal, trash, glass, or cardboard.  

Where?  In the back of Creekside  (Look for “Paper Gator” on the bin)

When? 24-7(drop off anytime)  

 

What will the paper become?  The paper will be shredded and processed into hydro-seeding mulch, lawn establishment products, lawn repair products, cat litter, dog litter or small animal bedding. Help us become a greener world!!!! Recycle!!!

 

**What does a COSTUME CONTEST, a SCAVENGER HUNT and CARNIVAL GAMES have in common? PRIZES, of course! The ZHS Orchestra is hosting their annual Family Fun Night on Friday, October 25 from 4:30-9:00pm in the ZEHS Cafeteria and Auxiliary gym. The costume contest is always a HIT of the night, AND, this year we have added a PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT!  Prepare that costume early and enter to WIN the costume contest! Bring your sleuthing abilities to search for hidden treasures! Display your carnival spirit and play games to WIN treats! Come hungry to enjoy a light dinner buffet (4:30-6:30) that includes your choice of soup, mac/cheese, hotdog, veggies, rolls and a drink. The HS orchestra students will entertain you with MUSIC and MORE! The all inclusive price of $5/person offers a great night of family friendly activities that includes a FREE movie at 7pm.  Bring the whole family; there is fun for everyone!
